The Carpenter’s Lady is a local business based out of Lebanon Twp., NJ. All throughout my life I have been crafting from knitting, to latch hooking, to painting, and it wasn’t until I met my husband, whom is a carpenter, that I fell in love with woodworking. As an artist I take recycled and scrap building materials to create pieces of beauty on my scroll saw. A scroll saw is a fixed blade that you must turn and work wood around in order to create an image. My styles include fret working which involves removing chunks of wood in order to create an image in negative space and segmentation which involves cutting pieces of wood to create an image. I love the flexibility my scroll saw allows me and the precision. It is challenging because you are working with a living material that can easily snap due to inconsistences, whether that be temperature or moisture. It is therapeutic because it allows me to quite my mind and solely focus on the piece I am creating. A majority of my pieces are inspired by the beauty and my love of nature and animals.
